A day in El Estudio

(Preschool · 3 - 5 years)

Each day in El Estudio follows a thoughtful and engaging rhythm that respects childhood as a meaningful stage of life. The flow of the day supports growing autonomy, collaboration, imagination, and relationships, allowing children to make choices, explore ideas, and learn alongside one another.

Arrival & Community

Children arrive and enter the space with a sense of belonging. Mornings offer time to reconnect with peers, revisit ideas, and transition into the day through conversation, play, and shared experiences. Educators support children in navigating relationships, expressing ideas, and beginning the day as part of a community.

Play, Projects & Imagination

Much of the day is dedicated to extended periods of play and project work. Children explore loose parts, natural materials, and open-ended resources that invite building, imagining, problem-solving, and creative expression. Ideas develop over time, allowing children to collaborate, return to their work, and deepen their thinking.

Educators support children as they make choices, negotiate roles, solve conflicts, and practice empathy. Language is embedded in these interactions, as children communicate ideas, listen to one another, and naturally experience both English and Spanish within the environment.

Outdoor Time, Garden & Inquiry

Children in El Estudio spend extended time outdoors each day. Gardens, sand areas, and natural materials become spaces for observation, care, and inquiry. Children tend plants, notice seasonal changes, and use outdoor environments to support imagination, collaboration, and exploration.

These experiences invite children to ask questions, take responsibility, and build a deeper awareness of their relationship with the natural world.

Food, Collaboration & Responsibility

Food experiences in El Estudio build intentionally on children’s outdoor and garden experiences. Children collaborate in activities such as bread baking, food preparation, setting tables, and cleaning up. Through these shared moments, food is experienced as something that is grown, prepared, and cared for together.

Meals and snacks are social moments that support conversation, cooperation, and a sense of shared responsibility within the group.

Rest, Nap Option & Afternoon Flow

As the day progresses, the rhythm naturally shifts. Children are offered time for rest and quiet, including the option to nap or relax according to individual needs. Those who do not sleep engage in calm activities such as reading, drawing, or quiet play.

After this quieter period, children return to play, projects, and outdoor exploration with renewed energy.

Closing the Day

As families arrive, children are supported in finishing work, reflecting on experiences, and transitioning home. Educators share moments from the day, supporting continuity between school and home.

The day unfolds with intention and balance, supporting children as they explore ideas, build relationships, and return home feeling grounded.
